Do You NEED The Gear?

Do you NEED the gear?
Defining need
It’s easy to see news reports and make justifiable claims to purchase items that will, in a way,
make you feel safer.
Be mindful of what mental gymnastics you hop thru to justify a purchase.
Is it really needed to purchase night vision if you are in financial debt to begin with?
Finding the Line
All of this information is subjective, so keep that in mind when making choices for your household.
Nobody's life is the same as any one else's so it’s hard to say what's
needed VS wanted. An easy example of what I define Mental Gymnastics as, goes as follows:
I live in Tennessee, beautiful state through and through. I'm also an
avid gun enthusiast so I can throw some relative truths into a concoction to justify buying a firearm I don't NEED.
I don't currently have a cartridge that's well suited for defending myself from bears, I
have enough money this paycheck to get a revolver suited for the task.
That didn't seem too out of line did it? But now consider the reality:
I live in city, haven't taken a hike in the woods since extended family came to visit,
bear attacks in the first place
aren't even that common, I already have
plenty of other firearms that could fill that role just fine anyways.
Was the revolver a
wise purchase? Probably not.
